The O’Neill DNA Agenda

The O’Neill DNA Agenda
 By M.A.O’Neill

I often ask why are O’Neill’s that have y-dna tested even joining the FTDNA O’Neill DNA project? Unless you just want to be a sucker and be placed in an “Ungrouped section”. I would advise the administrators of the FTDNA O’Neill DNA project to have a little more respect for those O’Neill’s tested and spend more time fixing the O’Neill DNA project than threading nonsense in forum. The problem is that many O’Neill’s in the United Sates and Ireland believes that he is a descendant of Hugh O’Neill or Shane “An Diomas” O’Neill or some other powerful O’Neill chief, and now by taking a y-dna some try to prove this. Instead they should be trying to find their own origins, and doing some unbiased research. It’s very easy just to take a y-dna test and your ancestors accomplished nothing then claim your descend from nobility.   There are countless O’Neill’s tested for their y-dna and all of various different Haplogroups, and somehow the so called “O’Neill Variety” is that of the O’Neill’s of Tyrone? Or many believe it to be, because of an out of date study that relied on the y-dna of O’Neill’s in Ireland? One none of the O’Neill chiefs have come forward with any y-dna sample, in my opinion, it’s cowardly in their part not to do so, since this will help find some clues of the true origins of the O’Neill’s, yet I can see why they wouldn’t when you have some O’Neill’s with the agenda of finding a so called descendant of a mythical High King named Niall of the Nine Hostages or wanting themselves to descend from some nobility.
I have to say this for those that don’t seem to understand that the O’Neill’s do not get their surname from a mythical king Niall of the Nine Hostages, but from Niall Glundubh MacAedo, and was very likely not of Celtic origins, but of a the same genealogy and y-dna of Ivar the Boneless. If many of these so called O’Neill experts took their head out their ass, and did some unbiased research they will find that there are records out there of these possible origins. You have to understand that these so called O’Neill history experts are not searching for the truth, but are there to prove their own theories and to push their agendas forward. Again, just look at the FTDNA O’Neill DNA Project and see how serious the y-dna sample of the O’Neill’s tested is regarded.
Also, let it say that the O’Neill Chiefs of the Clannaboy of Portugal and the O’Neill’s of the Fews in Spain obtained a y-dna test, and they made it public , but they did not match the majority of O’Neill’s tested, nor the SNP associated with a mythical High King. Then what they are no longer O’Neill’s? Or they no longer are accepted to be associated with the O’Neill clan? You see there are clowns out there that believe this and have that sort of mentality, yet who are they to make such decisions? One because they wish and have an agenda that the O’Neill Variety or the SNP associated with a mythical High King must be that of a true O’Neill’s chief. Utter stupidity! One these people gained their nobility titles in Spain and Portugal not in Ireland, regardless of what those in Ireland think it doesn’t matter nor will it matter what the y-dna SNP these men belong to.
It’s all politics and weakness in character that you have countless O’Neill’s promoting the O’Neill history, for some time now, yet the ability to obtain the y-dna from ancient bones has been around .Ask yourselves! Why is it that no one is pushing for the O’Neill’s ancient remains to be tested? What is the fear?
I also challenge any so called expert to find an origin or theory on the O’Neill’s of Puerto Rico’s current L48 SNP until further test are done, since the L48 SNP is one SNP that constantly brings new findings. The O’Neill’s of Puerto Rico unlike that other O’Neill’s currently tested stand on their own and are unique with no known relatives throughout the world currently tested. This makes us unique and the last of our kind! Our progenitor was a man named Don Constantino O’Neill living circa 1650’s in Galicia, Spain, and his mother was named “Rosio” very likely a nickname for the Rose or Rosa. The O’Neill’s of Puerto Rico y-dna stands alone and above all it looks to be the last of a long bloodline more than I can say for other O’Neill’s. Does it matter if we do match any O’Neill’s in Ireland? No it doesn’t! And it should never matter. Now if there is an O’Neill in Ireland and he matches us then that would be something unique. But the chances of this happening are slim to none.
Will the O’Neill Chiefs ever take a y-dna test? Maybe they already have but why should they make it public so they can be scrutinized by fools when their y-dna does not match theirs. There so many speculations why the O’Neill’s have not tested or have tested that I find amusing. That they already have tested and they did not like the results and will not make them public? If they did take a y-dna test why would they not make them public? One I believe it’s not because they did not like the results which it’s a stupid speculation, but their fear of giving legitimacy to another clan or group of O’Neill’s that can claim a higher standing than theirs. It’s the same politics and the same weakness that has been around the O’Neill clan for centuries. And now add y-dna O’Neill zealots with dreams of a mythical High king SNP and things get worse. Will the O’Neill chiefs make their y-dna results public if they have taken it? Never will they show it, in my opinion; they are too weak to handle the scrutiny or the speculations of the results.

  2. Hi there, My name is Makala Wengelewski-Romero. My grandmother is Beatriz O'neill (born and raised in Guaynabo). I know that her first cousin is Hector O'neill, the mayor of Guaynabo. My grandmother still lives there on land that has been passed down through many generations. I am very curious to know more about the genealogy of the O'neills. Any info would help. I am the only one in my family that is trying to set up our family tree so that we don't lose this valuable information. It really does mean a lot to me. :)

    Thanks,
    Makala

  4. Why is it you leave out the Phoenicians entirely in all your writings? The word fion, feni, bianca in Italian, Beancharr in Scotland all come from Fenius and the Phoenicians straight back to Phineas of the Bible and certainly not Japhethites or of Magog.

  5. O'Neil means "of the Nile" Nel, Nial, Neil were Phoenicians from the land of Punt in Egypt. Punt is also where the word "pound" came from and many other words from Phoenician and Punt- Finn means "fair and ruddy" hence the red "phoinae" in Greek, it also means white, pure or holy.

  6. The first Puerto Rican leader was half Irish and half Indian. Read about "The Wild Geese" in Puerto Rico which had a different name before the Spanish who were then Irish. Since then you have to also add in the Jewish factor. Later on Jews blended in as well under the guise of being Spanish or Iberian which they obviously are not nor are they Italian, German or anything else but Judean.
