The descendants of Don Juan O’Neill are the majority of
O’Neill’s on the island of Puerto Rico, and after Y-DNA testing the results is
that they are currently L148- L48+ P107- U106+ U198- placing them unique among
the Haplogroup R1b1a2a1a1a5c L48/S162, which
is a Haplogroup associated with a Scandinavian / Germanic origin. Due to its
uniqueness it’s very likely to be an ancient bloodline likely now extinct among
the population and only found among this group of O’Neill’s on the island of
Puerto Rico.
Out of three O’Neill’s of Puerto Rico has obtained a Y-DNA
test. Only my test and that of a distant cousin matched 35 out of 37 markers the only mismatch marker
were at of Markers DYS = CDY a/b which is common thing.
Outside that they are 100% related with a TMRCA, which I estimated
to be around a 95% circa the year 1710 – 20 A.D. This is the time that Don Juan
O’Neill was estimated to have arrived or born.
In 2014 I will be taking new Y-DNA SNP tests to find a new possible sub-clade with the U106. Any O'Neill male that belongs to this bloodline or may have any relation to any other O'Neill of Puerto Rico should obtain a test also.
